Let the good times role!

Saturday was freezing!  I don't do cold very well and when we are officially in spring and the weather is not co-operating, I am not the happiest of bunnies.

But, it's the last Saturday that my mom and i have to spend together before my Dad comes back from his visit to South Africa and we had arranged to do something fun.  We were going to go to Barnesdale Gardens and spend a good chunk of the day looking at the much talked about 38 separate gardens followed by a bite to eat and good cup of tea.

Instead...........we arrived at the gardens only to find them colourless, lifeless and pretty boring - except for the daffodils and the occasional flower and tree.

Instead of taking a few hours, we were back in the car trying what to do next after just an hour....and that included the time we spent sitting down having a cup of tea.

We decided to set the Tom Tom to Melton Mowbrey, a little village about 20 minutes from the gardens and we would see what we could find there.  That was a good idea. We walked around looking at all these gorgeous shops, we found this funky looking 3D wall art

We then found this gorgeous little, family run cafe where we had a delicious light bite to eat.  When we walked in to the place it looked nice, but nothing special.  The friendly girl at the counter asked us if we wanted to sit downstairs as there plenty of places available down there so we gladly said yes.

As we walked down those stairs we were greeted with this...........It was so surprising and so unique. It gave the place a welcoming, comfortable feel to it that made our meal even more memorable!

Despite the disappointment with the gardens, the day turned out to be pretty good!
