Live Brave

  • Outside My Window
bright despite all the cloud cover, quiet which reminds that i am actually living in a little English Village, children playing in the park outside and cars all nicely parked up.

    I Am Thinking
about my friend, who as nice as she is and as well as she means, she seems to do everything she can to hinder my weight loss efforts.

    I Am Thankful
for living where i do, for having friends and family across the world who love me, for earning enough money to do what i like, that i am healthy and for great shows on tv.

    From The Kitchen
i have clean clothes piled up that need ironing, butternut sitting on the counter, dishes in the drying rack, brownies waiting to be baked, flowers on my windowsills.

    I Am Wearing
black jeans, a black t-shirt, black underwear with pink flowers on them, pink bra, my gold necklace and smelly socks.

    I Am Creating
a healthy and happy atmosphere at home and around me.

    I Am Going
to finish watching Home and Away, make a shopping list, vacuum my flat, go shopping and then pick Julie for a girls night in.
    Around The House
clothes need to be ironed and put away, shoes sitting in my lounge and hallway, lots of happy memories hung on the wall and sitting on my bed, books sitting on my bedside table, mail on the counter, and lots of peace and happiness

    One of My Favorite Things
is watching girl chick flicks while drinking a cup of tea.
A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week
um... working crazy hard at least until Tuesday evening, catching up on emails and letters to granny, tackling that ironing, helping a friend with his tax return, cooking, visit mom and dad, listen to Oprah Winfrey, walk to a few gym classes and taking Julie to the airport at 4am on a Sunday morning.

    XO!

Im trusting that this week ahead will be a good one, health wise. Keeping to my points, choosing healthy foods to eat, looking after myself and listening to what my body is saying to me.

I am grateful for my mom. For the friendship that we share and the support that she gives me. I wouldnt have it any other way. She listens to me, laughs with me and lets me cry on her shoulder. We share things and go places together. I am so very gratful having her in my life.

I am Inspired by Summer dresses. The different designs, the colours, i love them all. Here are some that i have been trying to decide between........i think i have made my mind up though.
And the last one is the choice............along with an orange cardi which doesnt look like it would go but when i wear it i will take a photo and share it.

I thought i would share some tips with you guys on some strategies that i have been putting together to try to help me with this journey. I have collected these from several different sites and books over the past few months.

    1. Be Consistent
So i know that this, all on its own, is very difficult. But in order to achieve something, whatever it is, you have to be consistent. You have to exercise consistently, eat healthy consistently, drink water consistently. Tough but true.

    2. Focus on what you can do daily
Its the small steps that help you reach your big goals. Try finding one thing you can do a day or a week and stick with it. Be it to eat your 5 a day or simply to stick to your points - pick something and focus on it.

    3. Start Small
Something that is small we can do. Something that is huge and overwhelming is a lot more difficult! So, start small and keep it small. And remember, its those small steps and small goals that add up to the big one!

    4. Write it down
Or tell someone who you can be accountable to. That is the purpose ( or at least part of the purpose) for my blog.

    5. Don't be afraid to try something new
We get board easily. If you don't try something new you might slip back into old habits. Try a new exercise class, a new recipe or a new vegetable. Just keep it fresh!

    6. Don't expect too much
We all face set backs. Life is full of them so BE PREPARED. If you are lucky enough not to have come across one yet, then don't dispare. At some point you will. Expect them to arrive at some point, have a plan and carry on.

    7. Stick with it
When you do have those setbacks, those bad weeks, then above all else STICK WITH IT. If your plan has been working for the past five weeks and now you have had two weeks of staying the same or even a gain, don't worry. Stick with it.

    8. Have Fun
Who wants to do anything that is horrible. So keep with it make sure that you are having fun. Get the family or friends involved, try something new. Have fun.

I came across this on Brene's blog and i hope that she doesnt mind me borrowing her idea. The picture is all her's too.

Im trusting that the decisions that i have made have been the rights ones. That they are going to work out and pay off for me, even if it is only in years to come.

I am grateful for the money that i earn. Not only am i able to pay all my bills on my own but i even have some spare cash to go out with, spend on those i love or even buy myself a new Babyliss hair straightner.
And finally i am inspired by the warmer sunny days. Waking up to sunshine and feeling the warmth on my skin inspires me on so many differnt levels.
    Have a lovely weekend everyone.

"Being happy is the cornerstone of all that you are! Nothing is more important than that you feel good! And you have absolute and utter control about that because you can choose the thought that makes you worry or the thought that makes you happy; the things that thrill you, or the things that worry you. You have the choice in every moment."- Abraham Hicks

Read it again and again and again, until it resonates in your soul. We all want to be happy, live a happy life but sometimes its just not as simple as that. I have been battling with this for a while, happiness. At what point do you get to take hold of that happiness? Do you have a right to be happy at someone else's expense? Is it OK for someone to hurt because you want to be happy?

These are some of the questions that have been running through my soul. Eighteen months ago i decided that i was going to leave my fiance of 7 years. There were many reasons, at least that is what i told myself, but the more i have been thinking about it the more i realise that most of those reasons boil down to one......... i wasn't happy and i wanted to be.

But you see, here i sit, with all this time that has passed and i ask myself if me being happy was worth hurting the man that i love? The thing is, is that we have still managed to stay friends, best friends. I don't know how it works and i know that people have varying opinions on that, but this aside he means the world to me. The past few weeks i have realised just how much i hurt him by leaving. He is lonely and doubts himself and thinks that he is not good enough. I never wanted that for him, i never meant to hurt him.

But there is always that other side of the coin...... other than these feelings that i have at the moment. I can genuinely and honestly say that i am happy. I am so much happier than what i was just eighteen months ago. Happier with my life, with myself and with my future. I wake up each morning with hope.....and lately guilt.

If happiness is a choice that we make minute after minute, how do we live with those same minutes which brings me happiness while bringing the man that i love pain?

I have had a bit of a difficult day today. Tomorrow night i am going out with the girls from work and their other halves to the theatre. I wanted to wear a nice summer dress - you know, to look nice. Well, this afternoon i popped to our shopping centre after work to find something to wear.

I found nothing! It either didn't fit, was too big around my boobs or was just way too short. Yes, i have lost almost 50 pounds but i need to remember that i am still big and that i have a way to go before the mirror will reflect the idea in my head.

I don't know what i am going to wear tomorrow.

Tonight i lost 1.5lbs. I know that that is good but to be honest i am a little disappointed. I wanted to lose 2lbs so that i can make my 50lbs lost mark. It just wasn't meant to be.

So today i am sitting at 49.5lbs lost. Roll on a new week.

Hello an endless supply of possibilities....

So, i decided to join up to Match.com this evening. I took the one months membership to see how it goes. Scary or what! I'm not very good with new guys - i get all shy and self conscious BUT if i am ever to meet someone new then i am going to have to be brave and put myself out there. So, hopefully this is the start of a very exciting journey. One filled with lots of laughter, many horror stories i am sure and if all works out, perhaps even my dream guy.

I am very sad to say that until now, i have never owned a pair of Nike shoes. I know, its sad, but my folks where never big on spending out tons of money for a name when the cheaper version would do. And i understand, i do.

But i have now bought my very first pair of Nike trainers for the gym. I love them. They are so comfortable and look so good on my feet.

I didn't realise how big i was or just how much the scales said. All this time i thought that my highest weight was 283lbs. This morning however, while cleaning out my flat, i found my notebook that had all my weights listed.
It turns out that i actually used to weigh 297.5lbs. Wow! My heart really did drop when i realised how much i weighed.
So, i decided to get some photos out from that time and look at the difference between 297.5lbs and 252lbs. That's a loss of 45.5 lbs! I never realised!

    The time will come
    when, with elation,
    you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

    and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

    the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
    Sit. Feast on your life.

And i don't mean with food. During the period of my life that i was handling my emotions, fears and happiness with food, the only thing that i thought about when i needed a pick me up was food. If it was chocolate and considered naughty then that would be the prefect treat for me.

Fast forward to my life today and i am pleased to say that i am finding other ways to treat myself. Best of all, its no longer food treats that pop into my head.

The past year and a half i have been through a lot of changes. Too many to share with you on this one post but i think one of the best things that have come out of them is that I feel proud of myself. I really truly have things to be proud of and in turn that is helping me to be proud of who i am.

My one greatest fear is the dentist. I know it sounds trivial but for me it involves tears before i even get to reception. It involves convincing myself for 9 years that i could get by without visiting the dentist. But last year, i started having problems with my wisdom teeth and by January this year i had no choice but to go and see the dentist.

So far this year i have been to the dentist four times. I have had checkups, one filling and most recently, as in last week Thursday, i had my top wisdom tooth out. And to top it off i was awake the whole time as they don't put you to sleep here in the UK unless they absolutely have to. OK, so i did cry throughout the entire appointment and i was shaking so badly by the time they had finished that i had to lay down and wait for it to pass before i could drive home, BUT i did it!

So on Saturday i decided that i deserved a treat. Something that i wouldn't have to be out of the house too long to enjoy and something that would be painless on my wallet. So i nipped out and picked myself up one of these.....

A tall, skinny mocha frappucino and a Starbucks card. Yes its edible but it is skinny and tastes fabulous and i fitted it into my points allowances.
Sometimes, its nice when people around you treat you. My friend brought these beautiful flowers round for me yesterday when she came to visit. I haven't had flowers from anyone in a really long time. It made my day and looks absolutely fabulous in my lounge.
    Thanks Julie!
