My hopes for adventures in Wales was spot on! This holiday was just what I needed, just what I wanted.  Wales is such a beautiful place and it took me by surprise to recognise that it reminded me of Natal back home. The mountains, the vegetation, the humidity.....all had a tinge of memories associated.  I loved it!

Every day I went for a walk along the beach at least several times. I loved getting up early before breakfast and making my way along the pathway, and every evening after dinner, my friend Jane and I would go for an hours walk in the sand - talking, sharing and getting to know each other better. We would watch the sun set, the tide come in or out and the seagulls fly overhead.

The town of Llandudno is famous for its connection to Alice in Wonderland. From what I could gather, the writer who wrote this story, based it on a little girl who used to come to this town during her summer holidays. Because of this, there are cute and gorgeously carved wooden character statues all over the town. It's sort of like a treasure hunt - they are scattered across the area and its only by exploring that you get to discover them.
We ate lots of delicious food and I only managed to take two photo's. Far too busy enjoying great food to be photographing it!  Makes a change right?

As I've already mentioned, this area is beautiful. With the ocean on both sides of the town and the gorgeous hills to the left and right of you, you cant ask for a more relaxing feeling.  Along the pier you are also able to find several trinkety shops, including one that was selling weird and wonderful creations....including the coconut pirate.

Wales is country which is full of history, and a lot of that history revolves around castles.  During the week away, I enjoyed visiting several of them....making my way through secret passage ways, hug walls and majestic rooms.  It always amazes me just how much of a huge task it must have been to build this things.
All in all it was a great holiday. Normally by the end of the week I'm ready to go home, to sleep in my own bed.....but not this week. This week, if it had been possible, I would have definitely stayed on.  I had the opportunity to really relax, to enjoy myself, to spend time reading, to see new places, to explore historical sites and to make new friends.  Speaking of which....here's a photo of Jane taking a dip in the big ocean. My cossie was at home unfortunately, but it was sure fun watching her bob up and down in the gigantic ocean.

Money is a little on the tight side right now, so I thought I would put together a post of ten things that I would like to buy right now but can't.  To be honest, none of it is over the top, but I don't like being in debt and so generally refuse to put things like this on my credit card.

    1. This I know: Notes on unravelin the heart - Its on my birthday wish list with my mom.
    2. The fault in our stars - I managed to pick this up at the library so it is coming with me on my holiday in a few days and I wont have end up spending money on it. Two great things!

    3. Carrie Underwood - Blown Away.
    4. Gloriana - Again, on my birthday wish list with my mom.

    5. We bought a zoo - I have heard lovely things about this movie and defiantely want to watch it at some point.
    6. Real Steel - another movie, but again it looks great!

    7. 21 Jump Street - another great looking film.  And Channing Tatum.......yum!
    8. The Help - I will be borrowing this from my friend at work so another savings for my bank account.

    9. Victoria Secrets Perfume - I have just finished the bottle I bought in September 2011.
    10. Avon Pout Lipstick - Another item on my birthday wish list.

This week, my life has been completely out of balance.....and it was as clear as day to me.  Some of this chaos arose due to my own choices, while the rest of it was down to unexpected situations.  Looking back, I could have tried to deal with them differently, but I do know that I did the best that could.

So, to try to compensate my off balanceness of this week, I have been trawling my regular blogs to see what items or posts will remind me to take a step back and breath, spend some time enjoying something that I love, learn something new and just take some "time out" to gain some perspective.

    Sarah's Everyday Styling Routine

♥ Everyday styling Routine - 3rd post is fantastic. Its great to see how other people do these things....and I love the lipstick. I need to get myself some Avon Ultra Colour Rick Lipstick - Pout.

Photo tip: I look great ♥ I look Great - This idea is a great way to not only save yourself some time, but to also improve your self esteem and positive thoughts about yourself.

    10 steps to happy.jpg
♥ 10 Simple things to make you happier at home - This goes hand in hand in having balance in my life. Part of being able to relax and enjoy life, is being happy in your home. There are some great ideas here - I will definately be trying a few of them at least.

♥ Twisted Ponytail tutorial - I love Kate's hair tutorials and blogs. She does such great things with hair and its always fun to try something new.

    Friend.

I have always been one of those girls who only has a few friends. I've always longed to be in the "in group", enjoying the hanging out and acceptance that I felt I missed. While I enjoy helping people, I am really not a group person. I get insecure, unsure and usually spend the evening hiding or sitting quietly smiling and nodding my head at conversation. I am much more of a one on one gal. Give me some alone time and I will be a very happy bunny!
And then I moved to the States. I gained some confidence, took some risks and made a group of great friends. My first real group of friends. I was so pleased....but I decided I wanted to take a new challenge which found me heading off to England.

If I thought making friends as a teenager was tough, just wait until I had moved continents three times, met a controlling guy in a peculiar country and made some drastic decisions in the process of getting my life and identity back.

Making friends as an adult is an entirely different ball game!  I have found it incredibly hard to make the type of friends who stick around.  By this age, people generally have their circle of friends established......and aren't all that keen to add people to the group. I guess if I had children, that might provide more opportunities to make friends, but as I don't, that is just not an option.

And then I met Mr C. At first I wasn't sure about him, but he has turned out to be a real friend. He knows all the scary skeletons of my past and all my hopes for the future,  he knows who I am and why I do the things that I do. He accepts me just as I am and has helped me grow in so many ways......

Today he is leaving.....and my heart is breaking.....

My hope is that despite the change in jobs and location, our friendship will continue......I can surely hope, right?
     friend is friend!

July 2012 - End of month one

Operation Bye Bye is in full swing and has been for four weeks now.  My focus has been one day at a time, one meal at a time. I have been planning my food weekly and sticking to it as much as possible.  My plan has been to eat real, clean, unprocessed foods 90% of the day, and anything else for the remaining 10%.  It has been a learning curve for me, one that I am getting better at with each day that passes.

My mom asked me if this change in what I am eating is making me feel better, and I took a little while to answer. It's weird, because yes I do feel better, but at the same time I cant seem to put my finger on what exactly feels better. I know that sounds weird but I'm not sure how else to explain it.

July has been a challenging month on both the weight loss and exercise front, but I am pleased with the progress that I have been able to make - 8.6lbs lost this month.  My goal for July was 10lbs but 8.6lbs is still pretty good. August's goal is going to be 8lbs as I will be on holiday for one week that month.
