  • I turned 30 a few weeks ago now and at the time, i wanted to write a brilliant post.  But i ran out of time, and couldn't really decide what i wanted to write about....So much happened during my 20's - good and bad - but things that i wasn't really sure i wanted to bring up again.  My plan is to keep moving forward, not to stay stuck in the past - so rehashing all that i have been through just didn't sit well with me.

So, after some good advice that i heard - If you don't know what to do, stop and do nothing - I did just that, nothing.

But here i sit today and i really don't want to let this milestone go by saying nothing, so i thought i would creat a list of 30 things, past and present that i have either learned, am proud of, or am dreaming about.
    • Shoes will never be my thing........but nail polish definately is.  I have odd shaped feet and because of this i really battle to buy nice girly shoes, so instead of shoes i buy nail polish. I love doing my nails and trying out new colours and patterns - it's one thing that i am definately known for.
    • I am secure in who i am because of Jesus. I definately never used to feel that way and there are still days every now and then that i don't, but more and more i am secure in who i am as a person, not because of something that i have realised in life or something i have managed to figure out but because of Jesus and who He is and what He has done for me.
    • Whatever comes your way in life, remember to have fun.  It's easy to get side swept with the ordinary, everyday thing.
    • Don't leave a watermelon in your kitchen for 10 days, you may just come back to the most disgusting smelling kitchen you can think of....oh yeah, and dont forget the gross gooey mixture that is left behind from said watermelon!  YUCK!!
    • People may dissapoint you, but don't let that stop you from trusting and loving people.  Bitterness won't get you anywhere in life.
    • Don't forget that you have people who love you. They may not be near, and you may not speak to them often, but they love you, care about you and pray for you.
    • I am brave and courageous.  Doing things despite the fact that i am scared is brave in my books.  Even after all my visits to the dentist,  i am still afraid when i go, i have to make myself stay and fight the urge to run....but i go because i know it needs doing and because i am brave and courageous.
    • God's goodness is all around - remember to see the goodness of God in your life.  In those things that you had no control over yet received. Like my promotion at work, the parking space that just happens to become free, the near miss accident and so much more.
    • Peanutbutter and chocolate really are a great combination!
    • Pretty underwear really can make you feel sexy. I never really believed it until recently - but what can i say, I believe it to be true.
    • Don't stop learning. Take every opportunity every single day to learn something new.  An open mind will keep you learning, keep you young and keep you wise.
    • Travel as much as you can. Exploring new places and new cultures is so much fun.  I really believe that by learning a little about different cultures and different people, it can help you to really love people.
    • If something is not difficult to achieve, its not worth doing.....no need to say anymore on that one.
    • Now that i have my boundaries back in place, make sure that you keep your boundaries in check. If you lose your boundaries, you may just end up losing yourself.
    • Holidays are the best! I don't mind what it is - Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter - I love them all and try to make the most of them each year.
    • Do more things on your Life list.  You have to challenge yourself - it keeps life interesting.
    • Reading has always been a love of mine and probably always will be.  I can't get to sleep at night if i haven't ready at least a few pages of a book.
    • I seem to be a real romantic at heart.  There's no getting away from it - I am a sucker for a love story.
    • Remember to finish those things that you start.  I haven't always been the best at finishing everything that i start, but i am making a more conscious effort to not start things if i don't think i can finish them.  Let me just clarify - not starting things if i can't finish them and not starting things because of fear are two very different things....try not to get them confused.
    • Many hours can be wasted in front of the TV or surfing the internet.  Keep an eye on the clock and dont spend too much time on things that are fruitless.
    • Play as often as you can
    • Dont give up on love - despite what you have experienced and what you know, never give up on love and all that it has to offer your life.  Don't build walls around your heart trying to protect it, be generous with it.
    • Moisturise your skin daily - your not getting any younger and one day you will be glad that you took this little piece of advice.
    • Hot chocolate warms you from the inside out, and so does a good cup of tea, homemade soup and a delicious bowl of porridge.
    • It's so important to reduce stress as much as possible - be it by having a hot bubble bath, reading a magazine or painting your nails.
    • Gimmicks don't work - they never have and never will. Don't waste your time nor your money.  If it's worth doing, do it well.
    • When second chances come your way, grab them with both hands and make the very most of them.
    • Yoghurt doesn't just taste good - it makes a wicked facemask or base for a body scrub.
    • Embrace technology - don't be afraid of it. Embrace it with both arms.
    • Live your life to the fullest, make the most of every opportunity that comes your way, believe in yourself, spend time with your heavenly father and above all be happy in your life!

All this work and studying is exhausting and i having to remind myself to take some time out to recharge my batteries.  Magazines are such a treat for me that when i was in the States, i picked up a few different ones at the airport.  I didn't have much of a chance to read them on the plane and when i got home i had so much stuff that needed doing before i dived into my studying that i decided to keep them for moments like this.....

Heres to a 30 minute Time Out session for me!

    Its 7:43 pm

I'm sitting in the lounge, surrounded by papers, mugs and a yellow hue. This post is unplanned and unprompted. And i cant guarantee that its going to make much sense either....

I'm sitting here longing to be back on holiday, to be in a country that i love and where the feeling of dreams coming true seems within reach.  The few days that i spent at home before having to go to work were great.....and i know i have to work for a living, I'm just not sure i am in the right place.

One day back at work and i feel overwhelmed, out of my depth and unable to breath.  I knew it could possibly be tough going back today - especially with what i had to leave behind before i went on holiday; but i was just not prepared for today.  I thought i had it all figured out ( or at least more or less figured out ) and i felt like during my time away, God reaffirmed to me that He had me in this position for a reason. I felt it. I believed it. I was excited about it.  And then "it" became today and here i sit, uncertain if i can do this or if i should be doing this.....questioning what i thought i had heard.

I'm tired, i haven't been sleeping well, and that is probably impacting my emotions and mood.

Exams are creeping up on me and I'm terrified, the biggest knot that i have felt in a long time.  Why is it that i never feel prepared enough.  Do i take a gamble and study only certain chapters - i don't have time to study them all in depth.

My skin is shocking at the moment, i feel like a teenager with all these spots on my face.....probably a combination of travel, new medication and Proactive.

I have stayed within my Pro Points for the day, but i ate too many cake slices and now i feel rather yukky.....again probably an element of tiredness involved there.

I want to get up early tomorrow morning to have a quiet time.  I need guidance, direction and strength.

Enough complaining from me....I am after all trying to change my mindset and by doing so, my life.

I'm off to cut out some study materials and then going to have an early evening.....

    Night, night

I have never really been all that interested in the IPhone.  While those around me have loved theirs and endlesly tried to convince me to get one, i have always managed to avoid it.  My reason for not getting one was always the same....." I just don't need something so fancy.  All i do is text and phone so why do i need something that does so much more?"

And then my contract came up for renewel and it was time for a new phone.  Now let me tell you, i struggled over this decision for weeks.  I searched the internet for reviews, i looked at costs, i went instore to try out the testers and i still wasn't able to make a decision.  How about a Galazy S 2 - my mom loved hers.  Or maybe a blackberry - that way i would message Rayola all the time and it wouldnt cost me a penny.  Or maybe i should just go for the IPhone 4 as the contracts are the same price as the others and its supposed to be so good.  So i called up Phones4U and had a discussion was one of the sales ladies.  I ended the call having ordered an IPhone 4 but still not feeling all that sure that i had made the right decision.

And then it arrived and I fell in love.

I have had this little baby for about two weeks now and i can honestly say that i know know what all the hype is about. It is so going to be worth the money.

And to make it even better, if at all possible, i managed to find the most adorable cover for it.  All the way from China, surprisingly cheap and of good quality and completes the look.

I love you IPhone - thank you for all that you have introduced me to so far and i look forward to all that you will show me in the future.

Part two has been so much fun to put together.

Here are some more photos from our walk downtown on Saturday.

Some figures in the Citycentre Gardens....

The Gateway Arch was soooo high up. By the time we got there the ride to the top had already closed. It was so high up that in order to look up at it, you had to prop yourself up against something to stop yourself from feeling like you wanted to fall over!!

And then we also had the Old Court Houses....gorgeous once again.

And then there was the shopping!  I came home with an extra 20 pounds of luggage and a very well used credit card!

So many shops, so little time.  This is just some of what i bought....

And can i just say that i LOVE Victoria Secrets underware. There is just nothing like it and i know that sounds weird because you would think that they are pretty much all the same but nope, i can tell you they definately are not. I came home with ten pairs of very cute, very comfy underwear.

And then there is this....i went to town at the resource tables and bought so much.  To be honest, i could have bought so much more but i refrained myself and only came home with these.

Boy, do i have a lot to get through once my exams are over with...and i can't wait!

Wow, what a fabulous week I have had.  I have been home for 24 hours now, the washing is all done, the suitcases are unpacked, i have had plenty of sleep, replenished the kitchen with edible items, checked my email and gone through all the photos.

There are way to many photos to post on here, so i have selected a few for this post and a few for Part Two which will hopefully be posted tomorrow.

So lets jump right in and start with the hotel.  We stayed at Hotel Lumiere and it was gorgeous. It definately didnt look this nice on the website nor did it look this large from the outside.  This photo doesn't do it justice but it looks like Christmas in there. The lights are just so magical.

and the rooms were huge, comfy and more than we expected.  The beds were like water beds without the water and the in room TV's are bigger than mine.

The view from our window was of the Mississippi River and the gorgeous bridges that cross it.  There were these tiny tugboats that pushed numbers and numbers of things across the river.  I'm not sure what you call them, but at times these little boats were pushing two rows of about 15 of these things.

The woman's conference was fantastic. Fifteen thousand woman gathered in one place was just awesome.  Joyce was brilliant, as was Israel who lead worship and the guest speakers.  It was life changing and i have so much i want to say on it but i am going to save those for seperate posts.

Saturday afternoon, once the conference was finished, we went for a walk through town.  We went to all the tourist spots ( those photos are in tomorrows Post Two plan) and did loads of walking. On a side note - i have NEVER had so many blisters on my feet.....and in places that i have never had blisters before!  Ouch!!

Two very cool things that we found on our walking journey were the Littleboat Cruise Lines, for cruises up and down the Mississippi River and secondly.....

this awesome skate park on a really large boat that was docked along the river. During the week we watched it cruising up and down the river with skateboarders skating on it.  There must have been some sort of competition going on or something because there were camera crew there too.  So very cool!

That's all for now - part two to follow tomorrow.

Happy Hump day everyone!! It's wednesday and my mom and I are heading off to St Louis, MO.  We have been waiting an entire year for Joyce Meyer's Love Life Women's conference and we are soooooooo psyched to be going!  So much that we plan to do and so little time.  I've already told my mom that she is only allowed to sleep for 2 hours a day - the rest of the time we will be sight seeing, shopping or at the conference.

Have a wonderful week everyone and see you when i get back.
