  • There have been some really great articles and blog posts on the web lately and I thought it would be fun to share them.

This first one is by Jarrid Wilson.  I came across him on Facebook a few weeks ago and am loving the articles that him and his wife are sharing.  My favorite ones have been 10 Things everyone should start doing and 10 Differences between dating a man vs dating a boy

I love reading through a list of things that I should start doing and checking off those that I already do and some which I can start doing.

Lysa TerKeurst has written a great post on 5 ways to survive love season. I know that I will be taking on a few of her points this Valentines day.

Mandisa wrote a post about Earthly boundaries vs God's boundaries which is a great read.

Writing down your vision is a short Word For Today from Bob Gass.

I'm trying to eat cleaner and nourish my body with the energy that it needs. Lately, I have found that when I work from home or when it is the weekend, my eating goes out of whack.  I get so busy that before I know it, its three in the afternoon, I'm starving and I haven't eaten anything all day.  The problem then is that I don't see the point in putting something together when dinner is only two or so hours away.

On Friday I decided I was going to have to consciously change this pattern as I know its not good for me.  I got out some recipe books and made a food menu, ensuring to include food for each meal.  I made this today, Bean and Tuna salad and really enjoyed it.  Plus, I have enough for lunch for the next two days as well.

Here is the recipe that I made, I hope you enjoy it if you decide to make it.

    Ingredients

    400g canned butter beans, drained
1 Can tuna and 1 can salmon
    1 Red onion thinly sliced
    Chopped parsley
    Salt and pepper
    Salad leaves
    Fat free cottage cheese

    Method

Combine all the ingredients and enjoy.

Serves 3-5 people and can be refrigerated for two to three days.

One of the ways in which I am supporting my intention of changing my body and health for the better and my intention of committing scripture to memory is by using the list of scriptures above.  Lysa TerKeurst is currently doing a bible study on Made to Crave over at Proverbs 31 and a few weeks ago Lysa posted the photo above on her blog.

I often find myself struggling along this healthy journey when the need for short term gratification overwhelms my desire to reach my long term goal. I know that sounds a little wishy-washy but its true. When I find myself experiencing intense emotions, be them sadness, stress or excitement, I dive into the chocolate box. All i can think about is inhaling all the chocolate I can get my hands on, steam rolling right over my healthy eating plan.

With my One Little Word at the forefront of my thoughts, I wanted to figure out some actions that I could take during those times to help me make better decisions and stay on track with my plans.  Just a few days after I had been journaling about this, I came across these scriptures and my plan fell into place.

The next time that I begin to feel that overwhelming emotion in my stomach, working its way up towards my neck, I am going to Stop, pull out my phone and read the scriptures above. I may need to read them over and over again but i am going to do that until the urge passes.  As of yet I haven't tried it, but now I have a plan.

A few months ago some of you may know that I moved into my very first owned home.  It was and still is so very exciting.  Before I moved into my two bedroom, double story house, I lived in a rented one bedroom flat which meant that I didn't have a lot of furniture or items to move.

Now that I have lived in my house for a few months, I find that I want to start decorating it and making it my own.  The upstairs needs complete re-decorating which I currently don't have the money to do but what I can start doing is finding things which I love and that will go with the ideas in my head about how I want my house to look once the decorating has been done.

Over Christmas I came across some gorgeous canvas quotes, however they were on sale for $75 excluding shipping and sending that to the UK would have cost a bucket load I am sure.  So I decided to have a go at making my own.  I initially found a canvas that I had started painting previously but wasn't keen on the final look, and attempted painting over it with white paint with no luck.  So I decided to cover it with pages out of an old book and painted that white.

While that was drying, I found the quote I wanted to use and printed it out in the font and size that fit my canvas.

I then cut out all of the words and placed them on my canvas, adjusting them to get the right fit and the right flow.  Once I was happy with the layout, I took each word and shaded the back of it in pencil.

I then turned the page back over and traced around the outline of the text, leaving me with the below outline.

I then hand painted each of the letters with a small paint brush and black acrylic paint and once that was dried I laid down a boarder using duct tape and painted the sides.

I really love how this has turned out and it looks great in my bedroom. Plus it cost me absolutely nothing to make as I already had all the items available.  This project is probably not one that you are going to do in one afternoon, but the time and effort it takes to complete is well worth it.
