A Condient Heart - Part One

On the 15th of January A Confident Heart study course started with Renee Swope.  This week has been full of assignments, questions, quotes and things to consider.  So far I am really enjoying it and it has not only been helping me face the doubts that i am currently living with, but it is helping to build my relationship with my Heavenly Daddy.

One of the assignments this week was to read chapter one and make notes as you go through it - write down things that resonated within as well as things which you feel God was saying to you.

While i have all of this in my notebook and i have created a scrapbook page of it, i wanted to document it on my blog too.  So, this is what i have gotten out of chapter one:
Discovering the shadows of my heart
* You can only see the shadows when you have turned away from the light.  Don’t let those shadows steal your confidence in your day to day life.
* Focusing on anything BUT God will only magnify the doubts.  Make sure that when those doubts are surfacing, you recognise them and go to God in prayer.  Take your focus off of the doubts and onto the promises of God.
* Be aware and be careful of the thoughts that you are allowing to stay in your mind. If those bad thoughts become a truth in your spirit, all your thoughts will be filtered through it and therefore tainted.
* Doubt keeps us from believing things can get better. It convinces us that it’s not worth the effort.  When this happens, we end up giving up on the things we have started or are called to do.  God’s blessings are in the finishing of things, not merely in the starting.
* Isaiah 49:23 says that those who hope in the Lord will not be disappointed.  Don’t let your doubt rob you of your hope.
* Believe that change is possible.  If you live your life believing your doubts, they will have you missing your true potential.  If we are not living with a confident heart, we may find it difficult to believe that we and our situations can change.  Confidence in our Father, in His Word and in His promises can help remind us that in fact, change is very much possible regardless of the circumstances.
* Live your life like God’s promises are true even if your feelings don’t agree.  If you keep doing this your feelings will eventually catch up.
* Pray God’s words into and over your life, out loud and repeatedly.  Pray without ceasing.
* Scripture to memorise:
                         Jeremiah 17:7 -
Blessed is the woman who believes in, trusts in, and relies upon the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.
