Live Brave

  • I still continue to love this project so much. I love how it gives me the opportunity to be creative, how it challenges me to seek out the stories of life from the everyday moments and routines and how, over time, it all comes together to tell the bigger story that is my life.

It's been a while since I shared any of my project life pages, my last one being week six, so I thought I would pick this back up and share them with you.

I love how this page came together and I really love the darker colors with the black and white. This week was a hard week and I feel like the page captures that without being too "heavy".

A highlight of the week was my homemade bran muffins - these may not sound delicious but they were. Breakfast is not normally my most favorite meal of the day but having these in the morning definitely made breakfast for enjoyable.

I had to do some traveling for work. Using Ali Edwards Drive story kit was a fun way to document this somewhat standard work activity for me. And when you are in the car for almost eight hours, what better way to pass the time than listening to your favorite podcast.  It really does help the time to pass.

I have always loved books but over the past few years, other things seem to have gotten in the way of me setting aside time to read. This year, however, I wanted to focus on making time to get back into reading and so I set myself a goal to read one book a month. Nothing too lofty as I want to continue having time for some of the other things I enjoy, like blogging and creating.

    READ IN 2017

    • THE BLOOD SUGAR SOLUTION | An interesting read but not a life long approach to eating, at least not for me.
    • THE SHACK | This is another book that I tend to read every year and love it.  With the movie coming out I wanted to get it read prior to seeing it on the big screen. If you haven't read it or seen the movie I would highly recommend it.
    • SABOTAGED | SHADOWED | SHATTERED | SILENCED | STRANDED | SUBMERGED | These six books make up a series of stories about one family.  I absolutely love the series and tend to read them once a year. They are Christian based but are all adventure/danger/love story. Love them.
    • I DONT WAIT ANYMORE | A great book that I would recommend to anyone who is in a period of waiting in their life; be that waiting for a partner, a baby, a new job or anything really.
    • SEE ME | This book is almost five hundred pages and was written by Nicholas Sparks. Normally I am a huge fan of his work but this book was just alright.  The plot and love story was good but it took almost two hundred pages for it to get interesting....and then the ending just ends, almost like he realized how many pages the book already was and had run out of pages to properly finish the book.

    CURRENTLY READING

    • THE BRIGHT SIDE | I've only just started reading this one but I have heard good things.
    • START WITH WHY | I've had this book sitting on my nightstand for probably a year if not more and I finally started reading it.  I am into section two of the book and am really enjoying it so far. As this is more of a learning book I have begun to take notes of the things that stand out to me. Looking forward to continuing diving into this one.
    • BODY LOVE | Technically I haven't yet started this book as I am still waiting for it to arrive but I am so excited to get started when it does finally arrive. I will probably do a full post on this book once I have been through it.
    • 31 PRAYERS FOR MY FUTURE HUSBAND | This is the sort of book that you pick up and read ever so often. I was recommended it by a friend and it forms part of my prayer time.

For the past four years now I have participated in Ali Edwards One Little Word Project.  My word this year is WHOLE and you can find out more about why I chose this word and what I was hoping for in my original post back in January

This project is so personal that it's not the sort of thing that I share on social media as I want to continue having the freedom of being brutally honest without having to censor my thoughts or worry about how other people may perceive it.  But for this post, I did want to share a few pages out of my album - to give you a feel for what I have been doing and to add some prettiness to this post of course!

    LESSONS I'M LEARNING

01| Rest, real rest is so important and shouldn't be overlooked.
02| In order to grow good things, you need time, space and patience in order for them to
          flourish.
03| Connecting with friends and family makes me happier and helps me feel whole.
04| Progress is both a forward moving and sometimes backward moving process, and that is ok.
05| How to sit with my feelings in order to feel and identify them.
06| Minimising the amount of time I spend in front of the TV at night has helped me to get more
things done in the evenings and allows me to better unwind before climbing into bed.
07| Having something to look forward to each month makes my life feel more whole and well-
          rounded.

AREAS THAT I WANT TO CONTINUE FOCUSING ON

01| Focusing on being happier and more grateful in my day to day life
02| Continue waiting and hoping in this single season without growing weary. I am learning that
it is ok to love my life but still desire more. Every day I keep bravely waiting and trusting for
the next season to come in His way and His timing.
03| Choosing gratitude over complaining when it comes to my job.
04| Work on bringing healing and wholeness to my body by balancing my blood sugars, moving
my body, resting sufficiently and managing my stress levels.
05| Identify what fears I am letting hold me back and work through. Figure out how to move
          forward.

There is still a lot of progress and forward movement I want to make this year in these areas and I am excited to see how it pans out.
