Live Brave

  • Right now, I have two main focuses in my personal life.  The first is that I am doing a lot of work and putting a lot my energy on learning to love myself more. I have been working on some projects and will be sharing these over the next few weeks but I am very excited about the road that this will take me on.  The second focus in my life is practising the art of Intention. I want to live my life with intention, not just let it pass me by. So, one of the activities that I am doing to help me remember to live my life with intention right now is to create a Summer Twenty Twelve Intention list, thanks Ali for the inspiration.

The items on my list include:
♥ Go for a walk every day the sun is out
♥ Arrange a beach weekend away
♥Treat myself to an Indian Head Massage
    ♥ Complete TMA03
    ♥ Create something new
    ♥ Buy a beauty box
    ♥ Spend time with Anna
    ♥ Read a new book
    ♥ Have a picnic
    ♥ Reach 10% weight loss
    ♥ Wear a dress
    ♥ Feed the ducks
    ♥ Try a new hairstyle

Five days ago I was sitting on my laptop, clearing out my very long list of favourites.  It was like a virtual time capsule, with links and blogs and psychology assignment related info all in one place and going back years.  It took me ages to go through it, creating new folders for stuff that I still wanted to keep and deleting links that no longer worked or that was no longer relevant to my current life, and I am still not finished yet.

But one little gem that I came across was the blog of Naptime Diaries which I hadn't visited in a while. I read a few of her posts and fell in love with her writing style and content all over again and it's gone straight into my ♥ blog love ♥ favourites folder. One post that I came across was her June 1st post about She Reads Truth. When I saw it, I knew that I had to sign up and get involved.  I have been looking for something like this for a while now but hadn't really settled on anything particular....until now.  So on June 1st I made my way over to the She Reads Truth site, had a wonder round and signed up.

I am about 14 days behind the start of this but that is OK, they are still encouraging everyone to take part. I will either continue doing one a day or perhaps, if I have some extra time, I will do two or three a day.

I guess I just wanted to share this with you all, encourage you to sign up if your interested and enjoy the community around it.

The big one for me this month is going to be the setting of boundaries at work.

Work is the one place that I seem to really battle with maintaining balance - especially these past few days. I say yes to things that I shouldn't do because I don't want to disappoint and because I feel like I have to and I have things piled on me without standing up for myself and explaining just how much I already have on my plate.  These past few days have been particularly bad and I came away from work on Friday exhausted and with a very sore throat.  I had also spent most of the day holding back the tears, trying my hardest to keep it all together.  So I came home and did some thinking. I knew that I couldn't keep going like I was so I have created some boundaries that I am going to implement during June.

I know that this will definitely be one of those things that change as time goes on and I am OK with that - I just wanted to get something together to start off with. Like a skeleton draft I guess.  So here is what I have come up with so far:

    1. Each day I will not only have my lunch break but I will take it away from my desk to ensure that I don't get interrupted.
    2. I will not agree to pick up anyone else's work
    3. I will speak up when I am being asked to take on more

I know its only three things, but it's a start right?
